The Mediterranean

7 Night Cruise aboard the NEW MSC Meraviglia

Day 1 Overnight Flight

Board your overnight flight from the U.S.

Day 2 Marseille, France

When cruising southern France, you have to know that Marseille is the most renowned and populated metropolitan area in the country after Paris and Lyon. Enjoy an excursion including a City Tour of this mari- time town. The tour beings at the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde which stands majestically on top of a hill. Additional sights include the centre of Marseilles and photos at Longchamps Palace before enjoying some free time in the Vieux Port (old port).

Day 3 Genoa, Italy

A not to miss area of Genoa is its old town: a dense and fascinating warren of medieval alleyways home to large palazzi built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by Genoa’s wealthy mercantile families and now trans- formed into museums and art galleries. One of many optional excursions available is an open bus tour and the Aquarium. Admire the main squares and streets of this lively city. You will discover the elegant 16th century district of Via Garibaldi, the imposing Piazza de Ferrari area with the Ducal Palace. Next stop will be an included admission to the Aquarium. Take the opportunity to admire a vast variety of marine creatures, colored tropical fishes, sharks, corals, penguins and dolphins.

Day 4 Civitavecchia, Italy (Rome)

The port of Civitavecchia is one of the largest in Italy. During your time in port you can easily visit its centre on foot. Amongst the most important monuments to visit are the Forte Michelangelo, built by Bramante in the 16th century, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, Civitavecchia’s main square, Piazza Leandra, a typical Italian piazza with a fountain in the centre and of course optional excursions to Rome.

Day 5 Palermo, Italy
Today is the perfect chance to visit the regional capital of Sicily. Palermo holds an unrivalled display of Nor- man art and architecture and Baroque churches, combined with medieval streets and markets. Take an optional excursion on a tour through the streets and square of this bustling Sicilian town. Stop at one of Palermos key monuments: the Palatine Chapel. The tour continues with more of Palermos architectural gems, including the Norman Palace (exterior only), the Cathedral (exterior only), the wonderful Capo Market, Palermos largest pro- duce and fish market. End your tour at the Teatro Massimo (exterior only) before returning to the port.

Day 6 Valletta, Malta
The UNESCO-protected port of Valletta, the capital of the island of Malta, is a must-see stop on this itinerary.
The over 300 monuments rising in little more than half a square kilometre makes this a place with one of the greatest density of historical attractions to visit during a cruise. An excursion of the island can start from Vallet- ta. A highlight is the famous Maltese balconies, which decorate the facades of houses in its old quarter. Sur- rounded by a multitude of churches, which the islanders assure are as many as the days of the year, the St. John’s Co-Cathedral is one of Malta’s biggest tourist attractions. Additionally you can visit The National Muse- um of Archaeology, the underground passages of Auberge de Castille and the beautiful Baracca Gardens, which overlook the harbor.
